In medium saucepan.
Cover with water and soak, 15 min.
3/4 c red lentils
Fry until beginning to sputter, 2 min.
4 whole cloves
1/4 t cumin seed
2 T oil
Add, 5 min.
1 large onion, sliced
1 large Yukon gold potato, peeled, diced 1-inch
Add, 3 min.
1/2 c basmati rice
previous soaked lentils
1/4 t ground turmeric
2 t salt
  • Simmer, 15-20 min.
  • Let stand, covered, 10 min.
1 1/4 c water
